National Centre for Healthy Ageing
THE BRIEF
The National Centre for Healthy Ageing wanted to help older people and their families make informed decisions about health, housing and care, backed by research. The challenge was to make the evidence useful before a crisis, through conversations that people could follow if they don’t have a medical background.
HOW WE WORKED
The project began with a Miniature masterclass, giving the team a structured opportunity to develop and test its ideas before moving into production. We worked on the programme’s voice, scripting and interview skills, and helped shape an introduction that brought people’s lived experience into the conversation from the beginning.
We developed the editorial approach around recognisable questions, such as how to remain at home for longer or when to consider residential aged care. Hosts Tracy Parish and Dr Taya Collyer could then explore those questions with researchers whose expertise addressed the issues listeners were facing.
James worked with NCHA communications manager Anna Mudigdo on the series. Preparation and recording support helped the team develop the conversations, while editing made the evidence and practical implications easier to follow. Short video gave the centre additional material to share alongside the full episodes.
WHAT WE DELIVERED
Six episodes, a trailer and a special highlights episode are available on all podcast apps, as well as through NCHA’s Community and Resources Hub, alongside episode articles and short videos. Contributors include Dr Tina Lam on alcohol, Associate Professor Libby Callaway on independent living and Professor Helen Rawson on residential care. Together with short social clips, the material gives the NCHA a public resource to share with community members, families, educators and health professionals.
